Since 2000, Itay Noy has been creating limited-edition hand-crafted watches. Only 120 pieces of timepieces are born from the studio located in the old city of Jaffa, Israel. Itay Noy presents all original design, high-quality components & movements integrated with in-house dynamic dials, modules and complications.
"God finished the work he has done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done" (genesis 2:2)
In his latest collection, the Seven-day Cycle, a series that sought to reframe our perception of time by focusing on a weekly cycle instead of a daily cycle.
The rest day watch features a new way of visualizing the weekdays on the dial. Instead of a single window revealing the traditional names of weekdays, I skeletonized all weekdays on the dial as numeric values (first day, second day and so on) and the seventh day as a rest day. Each day will be highlighted in turn. The watch owner may personalize his week according to his faith or preferences, simply by choosing any day of the week as his "rest day”.
Itay Noy graduated with a BFA from the Jewelry department in the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, followed by a M.Des. from the Design Academy in Eindhoven. His work has been exhibited in museums around the world and acquired by important collections such as those of the Israel Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Charles Bronfman Collection in New York, and the Droog Collection in Amsterdam. He is the recipient of nine prizes, including the Andy Prize for the Arts, the Israeli Ministry of Culture Prize and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Prize. Since 2005 he lectures on timepiece making and design at the Bezalel Academy Of Art and Design in Jerusalem.
